Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with HV Project experience to join our growing Transmission & Distribution team based in the Republic of Ireland. The role focuses on large‑scale grid infrastructure, grid connections, private networks, renewable energy projects and hyperscale data centres.

Responsibilities

• Primary plant layouts for HV substations
• Equipment specifications for HV plant and associated equipment
• Providing engineering design input to major infrastructure projects
• Owners’ Engineer role on HV substation/Cable and OHL projects
• Providing HV design input to renewable energy projects (e.g., battery storage, solar, hydro and wind generation)
• Providing professional services to clients in Ireland, the UK and overseas

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Experience working on HV projects
• Experience working with major utilities or developers
• Experience as a designer or project engineer
• Experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects
• Fluency in English
• Experience in technical report writing
• Full driving licence and access to a personal vehicle for site visits
• Ideally experience on multi‑discipline engineering projects
• Ideally hold Chartered accreditation or working toward status
• Ideally consultancy experience
• Ideally experience reviewing detailed designs and witnessing construction site activities
