Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary consultancy delivering high-quality building services across Ireland, the UK, and Europe. You will lead design, coordination, and delivery of electrical systems for medium and large-scale projects in a BIM-led environment, engaging directly with clients and design teams.

This senior role requires strong LV, lighting, and life-safety experience, 6+ years in the field, proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit,

Qualifications

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent.
• 6+ years’ experience in electrical building services design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with DIALux/Relux is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of LV systems, lighting design, and distribution.
• Experience in BIM-led multidisciplinary environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical building services design from concept through to construction and handover
• Design LV distribution systems, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, containment, and life safety systems
• Develop electrical strategies for complex buildings across multiple sectors
• Take ownership of load calculations, system sizing, and technical design decisions
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams in a BIM-led environment
• Act as technical lead in client, contractor, and design team meetings
• Review and sign off drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations
• Support construction stage services including technical submittals, RFIs, and commissioning support
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers
• Drive coordination, compliance, and design quality across multiple concurrent projects

You will be joining a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy delivering high-quality, sustainable building services design across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

Your New Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take a leading role in the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services systems across a diverse portfolio of medium and large-scale projects.

This is a senior technical position where you will be expected to lead design decisions, engage with clients and design teams, and take responsibility for electrical engineering outcomes across multiple live projects.

You will:

• Lead electrical building services design from concept through to construction and handover
• Design LV distribution systems, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, containment, and life safety systems
• Develop electrical strategies for complex buildings across multiple sectors
• Take ownership of load calculations, system sizing, and technical design decisions
• Coordinate closely with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams in a BIM-led environment
• Act as technical lead in client, contractor, and design team meetings
• Review and sign off drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations
• Support construction stage services including technical submittals, RFIs, and commissioning support
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers
• Drive coordination, compliance, and design quality across multiple concurrent projects

What You'll Need to Succeed

To succeed in this role, you will already be operating at a senior level within electrical building services design, with strong technical capability and the confidence to lead design discussions.

You will ideally have:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent
• 6+ years’ experience in electrical building services design (consultancy or contractor background)
• Strong technical knowledge of LV systems, lighting design, and electrical distribution
• Experience across complex building types such as commercial, healthcare, pharma, residential, or infrastructure
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit (DIALux/Relux or similar lighting tools advantageous)
• Strong understanding of Irish/UK regulations, ETCI standards, and relevant electrical codes
• Experience working in BIM-led multidisciplinary project environments
• Confidence leading meetings and coordinating with clients and design teams
• A proven ability to take ownership of technical decisions and project outcomes
• Chartership (CEng) or working towards it is strongly preferred
