Job description

Senior Associate Electrical Engineer

Location(s): Dublin, Cork, Galway

We are seeking a senior electrical engineer to play a key role in the delivery of complex building, industrial and renewable energy projects. This is an opportunity to provide technical leadership, influence design direction and work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams on high‑profile programmes across Ireland. If you are a confident technical leader with strong client‑facing experience and a passion for mentoring others, this role offers the chance to make a real impact across major projects and the wider engineering team.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

The purpose of this role is to provide senior‑level electrical engineering expertise within a growing multidisciplinary environment, supporting the delivery of complex building, industrial and renewable energy projects. You will lead the development of electrical design solutions, guide technical decision‑making and ensure all work complies with relevant regulations, standards and best practice. The role involves regular interaction with clients, architects, project managers and internal teams, with a need to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences. You will act as a technical reference point within the team, providing mentoring, support and leadership to junior engineers.

Your Impact in This Position

In this position, you will shape the technical quality and successful delivery of significant electrical work packages, while helping build trusted client relationships and strengthen project outcomes. Your leadership will support early‑career engineers, improve team capability and contribute to a culture of high standards, collaboration and continuous improvement. Over time, you will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility across project leadership, team management and client portfolio development, influencing the strategic direction and growth of the engineering group.

Core Capabilities

Technical Leadership in Electrical Building Services

You will bring extensive experience in electrical design for buildings, including low and high‑voltage distribution, lighting, life safety systems, BMS integration and IT infrastructure. You will demonstrate advanced technical judgement and a strong understanding of Irish regulations, codes and standards.

Project Management and Delivery Excellence

You will manage multiple projects from concept design through to project closeout, maintaining technical quality, programme adherence and cost control. This includes estimates, tender documentation, contractor reviews and site supervision where required.

Team Leadership, Mentoring and People Development

You will act as a mentor and technical guide to junior engineers, supporting professional development and ensuring high standards across project outputs. You may also take on direct management responsibilities depending on office location.

Client Engagement and Relationship Management

You will work confidently with clients, architects and project managers, acting as a key point of contact on technical and commercial matters. You will explain design decisions clearly, manage expectations and support strong, trust‑based relationships.

Commercial Awareness and Strategic Contribution

You will support business development, bid preparation and strategic forecasting, while identifying new opportunities and contributing to commercial and contractual decision‑making. Your insight will help support wider business growth.

Qualifications & Experience

Expected

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • Significant experience in building services or electrical infrastructure design
  • Ideally around 15 years’ experience, including substantial experience within the Irish consultancy environment
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership
  • Strong proficiency in digital design tools and standard software systems

Beneficial

  • Experience in complex industrial or manufacturing facilities
  • Additional training in leadership, project management or renewable energy systems
  • Experience with advanced design methodologies
  • Strong track record in team leadership and client‑facing project delivery
Working Environment

This role can be based in any of the organisation’s Irish offices in Dublin, Cork or Galway. The working model is hybrid, typically combining two to three days per week in the office with remote working where appropriate to project and team commitments. Occasional travel to client sites or other office locations may be required. Flexible working arrangements are supported where possible, with a focus on sustainable delivery and professional wellbeing.

Equal Opportunity Declaration

In alignment with the Equality Act 2010, we will make reasonable adjustments to support candidates and employees requiring additional arrangements. This could include adaptations to work schedules, training approaches, or the physical workspace. Please inform us if you need any accommodations during the recruitment process or in your day‑to‑day role.
