Position

Senior Design Engineer (Energy & Utilities) – REF: 2621c. Location: Galway (options in Cork, Dublin, and Portlaoise).

Responsibilities

• Design & project management from conceptual phase through to project completion in the Energy and Utilities sectors, including building services/energy upgrades, renewables (biogas, biomass, CHP, solar, hydro, industrial utilities), pipelines, and installations (gas, oil, water, or wastewater).
• Industrial and building services utilities design, HVAC, steam, refrigeration & compressed air systems.
• Energy retrofit upgrades of buildings and building fabric.
• Development of preliminary and detailed design calculations.
• Development of design drawings and specifications.
• Development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reports.
• Balance of plant design.
• Design and implementation of energy saving projects.
• Attend and participate in HAZID/ HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Carry out PSDP role.

Requirements

• Mechanical engineering degree (Honours bachelor’s degree or higher), or a similar discipline relevant to the specification above.
• 7+ years post‑graduate and relevant design experience. CEng would be beneficial but not essential.
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Good academic record.
• Full clean driving licence and own transport required.
• Fluent written and spoken English is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
