Fingleton White delivers engineering services for the energy sector across a range of domains, including renewables, gas networks, water, and utilities.

Position: Senior Design Engineer – REF: 2621 (Cork, with consideration for Dublin, Galway, and Portlaoise).

Responsibilities

• Design and manage projects from conceptual phase through to completion in energy and utilities sectors, covering building services/energy upgrades, renewables (biogas, biomass, CHP, solar, hydro, industrial utilities), pipelines, and installations (gas, oil, water, wastewater).
• Develop industrial and building services utilities design, HVAC, steam, refrigeration, and compressed air systems.
• Lead energy retrofit upgrades of buildings and building fabric.
• Create preliminary and detailed design calculations.
• Prepare design drawings, specifications, and design reports at conceptual, preliminary, and detailed stages.
• Balance of plant design.
• Design and implement energy saving projects.
• Participate in HAZID/HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Carry out PSDP role.

Qualifications

• Mechanical engineering degree (Honours bachelor’s or higher) or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years post‑graduate relevant design experience; CEng is beneficial but not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent computer skills.
• Strong academic record.
• Full clean driving licence and own transport.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

The role is based in our Cork office but applicants from Dublin, Galway, and Portlaoise will also be considered.
