Job summary

Leonard Steel Limited is seeking a Contracts Manager (Structural Steel) to lead site teams and manage subcontractors across high-rise industrial projects. The role focuses on quality, safety, and robust commercial control, with ongoing site documentation and cost substantiation.

Requirements include a minimum 3 years in structural steel contracts, strong communication, and the ability to read technical drawings and specs. Salary is commensurate with experience; a company van is included.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 year’s site experience working with structural steel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate with all internal and external partners.
• Driven and dynamic approach with long term career development focus.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications and drawings.
• Knowledge of structural software such as StruMIS, AutoCAD, Trimble Connect, Tekla will be an advantage.
• Previous contracts management experience, preferably for a steelwork fabricator.
• Experience in a wide variety of contracts, particularly high rise in industrial & commercial sectors.
• The ability to prioritise under stringent time, quality and budgetary constraints.
• Detailed working knowledge of structural steel fabrication/erection.

Responsibilities

• Oversee site foremen, steel erectors and subcontractors.
• Manage subcontractor selection and on-site progress.
• Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Keep management updated on site progress and commercial issues.
• Proactively assess and mitigate commercial risks.
• Maintain robust site records for labour, plant and materials for cost substantiation.
• Keep monthly records for variations and additions with efficiency.
• Assist in preparation of project final accounts.
• Participate in site meetings to discuss and resolve commercial matters.
