Senior Civil Engineer – Public Realm & Active Travel
Job Summary
Our client is a leading multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong focus on sustainability, public realm, active travel, urban regeneration and people-first design.
Following their recent expansion into Ireland, they are continuing to grow their Dublin team and are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to take ownership of projects across a broad range of civil infrastructure. Their approach is different from a traditional consultancy, with a strong emphasis on creating sustainable, accessible and well-connected places through innovative engineering and thoughtful design. The role will provide exposure to a range of high-profile projects across Ireland, including:
- Major public realm and pedestrianisation schemes in Dublin city centre.
- Active travel and sustainable transport projects.
- Urban regeneration and village enhancement schemes.
- Waterfront and public park developments.
- Greenway, cycling and walking infrastructure.
- Sustainable drainage, landscaping and nature-based infrastructure.
- Wider civil infrastructure supporting residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver civil engineering projects from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
- Develop designs across public realm, active travel, roads, drainage, water and wider infrastructure.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings, cost estimates and tender documentation.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, contractors and statutory bodies throughout project delivery.
- Develop practical and sustainable engineering solutions in line with relevant Irish standards and regulations.
- Support project planning, programme management and commercial aspects of projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and team members.
- Contribute to the continued development and growth of the Irish team.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years’ relevant civil engineering experience, ideally within a consultancy environment.
- Experience across areas such as public realm, active travel, roads, drainage, water or wider infrastructure.
- Experience taking projects from preliminary design through to detailed design and delivery.
- Strong understanding of relevant Irish design standards and statutory approval processes.
- Experience liaising with clients, local authorities, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Strong communication, organisation and project management skills.
- Proficiency in relevant design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD or similar.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards Chartership is desirable.
