Job summary

Turner Lovell is recruiting a Senior Civil Engineer in Ireland to join its Civil Engineering team. The role covers tender through construction support on Power & Renewables projects, with hybrid working and occasional site visits across Ireland.

You will lead design development, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers while delivering major infrastructure outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in Power, Renewables, Utilities, Rail, Water, Nuclear or similar infra sectors.
• Experience in Civil Engineering design development, not just site-based work.
• Willingness to undertake site visits across Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Lead Civil Engineering activities from tender to project completion.
• Develop conceptual Civil Engineering designs (earthworks, drainage, access roads).
• Support tender submissions with risks and conceptual designs.
• Manage external Civil Engineering consultants for compliance and value for money.
• Prepare scopes of work for external consultants and subcontractors.
• Coordinate Civil Engineering with Electrical, Estimating, PM and Construction teams.
• Manage interfaces with clients, consultants, and contractors throughout lifecycle.
• Provide Civil Engineering support during construction, including site visits and design reviews.

Our client, a highly regarded engineering and construction firm, is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their growing Civil Engineering team in Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering major Power & Renewables projects, gaining exposure across the entire project lifecycle while working on a broad range of Civil Engineering disciplines.

Unlike a traditional consultancy role focused purely on detailed design, this position offers involvement from tender and concept development through to construction support and project completion. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you'll help manage Civil Engineering requirements throughout each project while supporting the continued growth of the Civil Engineering function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate Civil Engineering activities from tender stage through to project completion.
• Develop conceptual Civil Engineering designs, including earthworks, drainage layouts, access roads and construction compounds.
• Support tender submissions by identifying technical risks, developing conceptual designs and providing engineering input during estimating.
• Manage external Civil Engineering consultants, reviewing designs to ensure compliance with client specifications, project requirements and value for money.
• Prepare Civil Engineering scopes of work for external consultants and subcontractors.
• Coordinate Civil Engineering requirements with Electrical Engineering, Estimating, Project Management and Construction teams.
• Manage key client, consultant and contractor interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide Civil Engineering support during construction, including site visits, design reviews and managing changes to scope, programme and cost.
• Mentor and support junior engineers within the Civil Engineering team.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 3-5 years post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering.
• Experience within Power, Renewables, Utilities, Rail, Water, Nuclear or similar infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
• Experience in Civil Engineering design and design development rather than purely site-based engineering.
• Experience managing or coordinating external design consultants would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness and ability to undertake site visits across Ireland.
