Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a BMS Engineer to lead commissioning and ongoing support for client BMS projects. The role links the projects team with service delivery, shaping energy strategies and roadmaps for future-proofed systems. You will support high-level technical activities and collaborate with customers, project and service teams.

You will work from a base in Ireland, interfacing with HVAC controls and networked controllers, ensuring safety and quality across installations and handovers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor level or electrical/electronic qualifications required.
• Apprenticeship in electrical/electronic trade with 5 years commissioning experience acceptable.
• Experience creating/updating graphics and setting up workstations/networks desirable.
• Experience configuring controllers and actuators on AHUs and terminal units.
• HVAC knowledge/experience essential.
• Fault finding in electrical starters/controls and operation of variable speed drives.
• Good communication skills written and verbal.
• Industry standard H&S certification (Safe Pass).
• Familiarity with BMS industry protocols.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications and designs; identify commissioning or software issues with the project manager.
• Validate assumptions; build detailed cost estimates and scopes; assist in proposals.
• Follow project software/commissioning requirements; coordinate with M&E/end user.
• Report delays to the project manager via weekly reports or as requested.
• Aim to improve customer satisfaction while meeting commercial objectives.
• Liaise with manager to highlight operational problems.
• Apply safe working practices and comply with HSE requirements.
• Ensure factory acceptance tests and handover documentation are produced and signed.
• Keep accurate commissioning progress records.
• Maintain relevant professional certifications and licenses.
• Develop and test software programs for the system.
• Create drawings and equipment schedules for submittals.
• Load and commission system/network controllers.
• Verify system functionality and troubleshoot with subcontractors.
