Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Experience owning and operating production systems.
• Track record delivering scalable solutions in ambiguous, high-impact challenges.
• Ability and motivation to learn quickly and apply knowledge to real problems.

Responsibilities

• Drive evolution of the next-generation timekeeping platform at scale, processing tens of millions of shift events weekly.
• Build, run, and improve core backend systems with a collaborative team.
• Own end-to-end systems design, focusing on quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Lead full development lifecycle—design, estimate, implement, test, debug, deploy.
• Ship code that impacts Toast’s growth and daily restaurant operations.
• Collaborate with product and design to influence what and how we build.
• Contribute to team standards through code reviews and technical discussions.
• Mentor teammates with technical guidance.
