Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Python/Django) based in Ireland. You will build and scale high-performance APIs and mission-critical microservices used by millions of travelers worldwide, combining hands-on engineering with architecture responsibilities in a fully remote, international team.

You will focus on operations, automation, scalability, testing, code reviews, and documentation, improving performance and reliability while collaborating

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience with Django and DRF.
• Strong Python expertise and backend architecture knowledge.
• Experience designing microservices and integrating complex third-party systems.
• Proven unit testing experience with Pytest or similar.
• Asynchronous programming experience and high-load query optimization.
• English at C1 level for international collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimize mission-critical microservices using Python, Django, and DRF.
• Design and develop scalable APIs capable of supporting high-concurrency traffic.
• Contribute to software architecture focusing on operations, automation, resilience, and scalability.
• Establish and maintain testing and quality checks using Pytest.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and N+1 issues.
• Design and implement microservices that integrate with complex third-party systems.
• Improve performance and reliability through profiling and asynchronous techniques.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, and engineering teams across international locations.
• Promote engineering best practices across the lifecycle (design, reviews, docs).
• Support continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
