Job summary

Jobgether, listing on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Backend Software Engineer, Data Layer in Ireland. You will design and grow storage and query infra across relational databases and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch to support a large-scale process orchestration platform.

Join a remote-first team, collaborate with product, QA, SRE, and engineers, and own end-to-end engineering initiatives from requirements through production delivery. Strong data-store experience is required.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Hands-on with at least one major database or search technology such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MSSQL, Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
• Understanding of query performance, indexing, data modeling and execution plans.
• Experience delivering complex engineering initiatives end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services storing and serving process data across relational databases and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch with a focus on correctness, performance, reliability and scalability.
• Own engineering initiatives end to end from requirements through production delivery.
• Evolve how process data is processed, retained, exposed, and streamed so customers access and use their data effectively.
• Improve performance and scalability of secondary storage systems and develop observability and production tooling.
• Investigate and resolve data-layer production issues, including slow queries, indexing problems and execution-plan challenges.
• Collaborate with Product, Support, SRE, QA and other teams in a remote-first environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement from incidents and customer feedback into engineering practices.
