Location: Dublin, Ireland (field-based, commutable to Dublin required)
The business
Our client is an established, expanding supplier with an active customer base across Ireland. It's a close-knit organisation with an entrepreneurial edge, growing steadily year on year and continuing to bring new products and categories to market.
This role exists to bring consistency and commercial discipline to a sales operation as it scales. You'll take day-to-day charge of the team's performance, represent the sales function in wider business decisions, and be the person who sets the tone for how the team operates and how customers experience the business.
What you'll be doing
Running the team day to day
- Take full responsibility for a team of sales professionals, providing direction, support and oversight of how customer accounts are managed
- Step in early on performance issues or account problems, keeping standards consistent across the team
- Adjust your approach to each individual, some will need very little input, others will need regular hands-on support and confidence-building
Commercial performance
- Set and manage the team's targets across the year, with margin and profitability as the priority, not just sales volume
- Keep close track of how key accounts, product lines and suppliers are performing against target, and act quickly when something's off track
- Get involved in decisions about which products the business should bring in, expand, or drop, working alongside colleagues from other functions
Customer and supplier relationships
- Build direct, face-to-face relationships with the business's most valuable customers and suppliers
- Represent the business at a senior level in customer and supplier meetings
Developing the team
- Run regular training sessions covering product knowledge, sales technique and market awareness
- Build a culture where the team is genuinely improving, not just hitting numbers
Working across the business
- Act as the point of contact between sales and other departments (including operations and commercial), resolving disagreements about what's realistic for customers with good judgement
- Share what you're hearing from customers and the market to help shape decisions elsewhere in the business
- Play an active role as new systems and ways of working are introduced across the sales function
Setting the tone
- Model the standards and values expected across the business in how you lead, make decisions and deal with people
- Be someone the team, and the wider business, trusts to make the right call
What we're looking for
- Genuine experience leading a sales team, with a track record of improving how that team performs, not just managing it
- Strong commercial judgement, particularly around margin, pricing and profitability, rather than a pure focus on closing volume
- Confidence working across departments and holding a firm line where needed, tact matters as much as conviction
- Open to candidates from adjacent B2B backgrounds rather than requiring a direct match to this specific sector, provided there's real interest in the space
- Comfortable with a role that's mostly out in the field rather than desk-bound, balanced with time in the office for key meetings
- Competent with everyday business tools (Excel, presentation software) and standard e-commerce or procurement systems
Package
- €100,000 – €110,000 base salary, depending on experience
- Bonus linked to team and business performance
- Travel costs covered for both domestic and international trips
- A genuinely senior seat at the table, with real influence over commercial decisions as the business grows
