Job summary

Sedgwick Ireland seeks a Risk & Compliance Manager to lead risk management, regulatory compliance and data protection across the business. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders to strengthen governance, ensure regulatory obligations and support a positive risk culture.

The role involves policy drafting, monitoring programmes, DPIAs and reporting to governance bodies, with hybrid work in Dublin and two on-site days.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4–5 years' experience in risk, compliance and data protection in financial services or regulated sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Central Bank of Ireland requirements, Consumer Protection Code and Fitness and Probity.
  • Practical GDPR knowledge, DPIAs, breach management and processing records.
  • Analytical, report-writing and communication skills with senior stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple regulatory deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and delivery of Compliance Plan, Data Protection Plan and Risk Management Framework.
  • Maintain CMP, monitor regulatory requirements, and update related policies.
  • Maintain risk register, risk appetite metrics and KRIs; support risk workshops.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather GCOR data and metrics.
  • Act as contact for data protection matters; support DPIAs and records processing.
  • Draft and maintain policies; support regulatory training and awareness.
  • Investigate conduct risk issues and root-cause analysis; manage remediation.
  • Prepare reporting for Risk & Compliance Committee, Audit Committee and Board.
  • Prepare Central Bank of Ireland returns; support Internal Audit and outsourcing oversight.
  • Contribute to positive risk culture across first-line units.

Job description

In partnership with our client, we are seeking a Risk & Compliance Manager.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Risk & Compliance professional to take on a broad and varied role spanning risk management, regulatory compliance, and data protection. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help strengthen governance frameworks, support regulatory obligations, and promote a positive risk culture across the organisation. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact, influence decision‑making, and contribute to the ongoing development of a growing business.

Responsibilities
  • Support the design and delivery of the annual Compliance Plan, Data Protection Plan and Risk Management Framework, including testing, reporting and remediation tracking.
  • Support the design, maintenance and delivery of the annual Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP).
  • Support maintenance of the compliance universe of applicable legal and regulatory requirements and keep up to date with upstream regulatory developments to ensure new legal and regulatory requirements are assessed and implemented.
  • Maintain and update the firm's risk register, risk appetite metrics and key risk indicators; support risk workshops with business unit owners.
  • Collaborate and partner with stakeholders and teams across the enterprise to gather key GCOR related data and metrics.
  • Act as a key point of contact for data protection matters, supporting the DPO/CRCO with data protection impact assessments, records of processing activity, breach management and subject access requests under GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Draft, review and maintain compliance, risk and data protection policies, procedures and standards, and support training and awareness on regulatory, risk and data protection topics.
  • Investigate and support the logging of conduct risk issues, errors trends, breaches and incidents, escalating appropriately and supporting root cause analysis and remediation plans.
  • Prepare reporting for the Risk and Compliance Committee, Audit Committee, and the Board.
  • Prepare Central Bank of Ireland returns (e.g. regulatory returns, engagement, ad hoc information requests).
  • Support Internal Audit (outsourced).
  • Support outsourcing oversight, third-party due diligence and business continuity/operational resilience activities relevant to risk and compliance.
  • Contribute to a positive risk culture, supporting first‑line business units in understanding and applying risk and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Required Skills
  • Minimum 4‑5 years' experience in a risk, compliance and data protection role within financial services, ideally insurance, insurance intermediation or a related regulated sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of Central Bank of Ireland regulatory requirements, the Consumer Protection Code, Insurance Distribution Regulations and Fitness and Probity regime.
  • Practical knowledge of GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including DPIAs, breach management and records of processing.
  • Strong analytical, report‑writing and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and regulators.
  • Self‑starter, comfortable operating in a small second‑line function and managing multiple regulatory deadlines.
