Job summary

Gaia Talent is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to supervise site activities and administer contracts for road and transport infrastructure projects.

You will liaise with stakeholders, prepare reports, monitor progress and inspect works in tandem with a Senior Resident Engineer. A Level 8 Civil Engineering degree and Chartered status (or progression) are preferred, with 4+ years in the field and hands-on experience in Public Works contracts.

Qualifications

  • Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards this.
  • Minimum 4 years relevant experience in civil engineering, including 2 years in supervision & administration of Public Works Contract for Civil Engineering Works.
  • Computer literate with AutoCAD or similar and MS Office.
  • Experience administering contracts using Public Works forms; including valuations and claims.
  • Experience supervising construction of roadworks including pavement, drainage, structures, ducting, signage and lighting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Record keeping and reporting on Contractor's progress.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently to achieve project goals.
  • Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.
  • Full driving licence and SafePass.
  • Interpersonal skills and an approachable manner.
  • Flexible, multi-tasking, prioritising.
  • Well-motivated, able to work alone or as part of a team when required.

Job description

The ideal candidate will have relevant years of experience in roads/transport infrastructure. The candidate should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, flexible, willing to take responsibility and comfortable working with others in a team.

Your role

The role will involve site-based supervision, contract administration, stakeholder and client liaison, reporting, monitoring and inspection of construction activities; in tandem with a Senior Resident Engineer.

About you
  • Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.

  • A minimum of 4 years relevant experience in the civil engineering industry, including 2 years construction phase involvement in the supervision & administration of Public Works Contract for Civil Engineering Works.
  • Computer literate and with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts; including processing of Valuations, and assessment of Claims.
  • Experience in supervising and inspecting the construction of roadworks including pavement, drainage, structures, ducting, signage, lighting, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Experience in record keeping and reporting on Contractor's progress.
  • Ability to work within a team and also work independently and under own initiative to achieve project goals.
  • Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.
  • Full driving licence and a valid SafePass.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
