Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee all aspects of construction delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Contract Administration: Administer commercial aspects of contracts, including assessment of interim and final accounts, variations, claims, and contractor performance against KPIs.
- Health & Safety Oversight: Review and monitor contractor documentation and performance, including HSQE submissions (RAMS, TMPs), CEMPs, quality plans, and adherence to contractual obligations.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the main interfacing point of contact for the client, project managers and contractors, providing clear updates and resolving issues promptly.
- Site Supervision: Conduct regular site inspections, safety reviews and quality audits, ensuring works are completed in accordance with specifications and approved proposals.
- Supervise construction activities, maintain detailed project records and support the coordination and monitoring of commissioning works to achieve timely project completion.
- Risk & Issue Management: Report and manage incidents, assist in investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor workmanship and materials to meet required standards, ensuring compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
About You
- Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards this.
- Relevant years of experience in the civil engineering industry, including at least 2 years of construction phase involvement in the supervision and administration of public works contracts for civil engineering works.
- Computer literate with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD or similar) and Microsoft Office programmes.
- Experience in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts; including processing of valuations and assessment of claims.
- Experience supervising and inspecting the construction of roadworks including pavement, drainage, earthworks, ducting, signage, lighting, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience in record keeping and reporting on contractor’s progress.
- Ability to work within a team and also work independently and under own initiative to achieve project goals.
- Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.
- Applicants must hold a valid SafePass or CSR NI certification.
- Working week of 8 hrs per day, 5 days per week; with possibility of some weekend and night works only if and when required.
- A vehicle will not be provided during the course of the works, so applicants must hold a full driving licence and have use of own vehicle.
