An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Resident Engineer to join a major infrastructure project in the Mayo region. The successful candidate will play a key role in the supervision, administration, inspection, and monitoring of bridge construction and rehabilitation works across multiple sites throughout County Mayo.
This is a site-based role, with the successful candidate primarily based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, while supporting construction activities across approximately 10 project locations within the county. A contractor vehicle and fuel card will be provided.
Supervise and inspect bridge construction, repair, and rehabilitation works.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure works are delivered in accordance with contract requirements, specifications, and relevant standards.
Review and maintain site records, reports, and documentation.
Administer construction contracts and monitor project progress.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
Liaise with contractors, clients, stakeholders, and members of the site supervision team.
Attend site meetings and provide technical guidance where required.
Support the successful delivery of projects to programme, budget, and quality standards.
Minimum Level 7 Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
At least 5 years' post-graduate experience in a Resident Engineer role.
Proven experience on projects involving the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of:
Masonry structures
Concrete structures
Steel structures
Strong knowledge of construction supervision and contract administration.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with progress reporting, record keeping, and site documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
Strong understanding of current Health & Safety regulations and best practices.
Full driving licence valid for use in Ireland.
Valid Safe Pass certification.
Experience administering contracts under the Public Works Contract framework.
Previous involvement in bridge or transportation infrastructure projects.
