Job summary

Global Professional Consultants Ireland is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer based on site in Galway. The role involves overseeing various bridge and civil infrastructure projects, ensuring construction compliance, and maintaining comprehensive documentation on site activities.

The ideal candidate must hold a Level 8 Degree in civil or structural engineering, possess at least 3 years of relevant experience, and have strong knowledge of Road Works Specifications. A competitive salary of circa €50k – €55k, with additional bonuses and benefits, is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Resident Engineer.
• High standard of technical training and experience.
• Experience in administering contracts using Public Works form is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that works are constructed as required and the Contractor meets obligations.
• Organise and supervise construction works on site.
• Maintain a comprehensive diary of construction work and events.
• Document all day work records and variations.
• Track delays, disputes, and conditions affecting work.
• Attend site meetings and minute proceedings.

Skills

Knowledge of Road Works Specifications

Experience in Bridge and Structural inspections

Irish/EU Driving license

Education

Assistant Resident Engineer with 3+ years’ experience, required to join a leading engineering consultancy with offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Louth. As Assistant Resident Engineer you will be based on site in Galway and will report to the Senior Resident Engineer on site. The Assistant Resident Engineer’s primary role is to ensure that works are constructed as designed and instructed and that the Contractor carries out all their obligations under the contract.

• Various Bridges in the Connacht Region
• Roads and Civil Infrastructure Projects

Role:

• Ensure that the works are constructed as required and that the Contractor carries out all their obligations under the contract.
• As Assistant Resident Engineer you will organise and ensure adequate supervision of construction works on the site.
• Maintain a comprehensive diary constituting a detailed work history of construction work and significant happenings on the site.
• Ensure that all day work records and all variations from specification are approved and documented prior to execution.
• Keep record of all information relating to delays, industrial disputes, adverse physical conditions and disputes with sub-contractors and landowners.
• Attend regular site meetings and ensure that proceedings are minuted for circulation to all relevant personnel.

Requirements:

• Level 8 Degree in civil or structural engineering or equivalent.
• The successful Resident Engineer must have minimum 3 years’ experience.
• Knowledge of Road Works Specifications (e.g. TII Specification)
• Experience in assisting in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts an advantage.
• Experience in Bridge and Structural inspections is an advantage
• Must have a high standard of technical training and experience including, administrative experience.
• Irish/EU Driving license essential.

Salary:

• Excellent salary circa €50k – €55k+ (depending on experience)
