Job summary

Isla Health is seeking a Platform Engineering Lead to own the technical implementation and scalability of our cloud infrastructure. As the technical authority for the backend team, you will ensure the Digital Pathway Platform scales across international health systems.

This leadership role drives technical excellence, enabling a remote-first operating model for healthcare and delivering impact for patients globally.

Qualifications

Experience leading backend or platform teams in a high-growth environment.
Strong hands-on expertise with Node.js and TypeScript.
Proven ability to own cloud infrastructure and IaC (Terraform).
Experience with cost-optimisation and scalable architectures.

Responsibilities

Own the platform & infrastructure: architect, secure, and stabilize the GCP platform for 100% YoY growth.
Lead the backend team (3-5 engineers) delivering high quality, scalable solutions.
Drive platform efficiency and cost management as user base grows.
Architect integrations with external APIs and robust auth patterns.
Partner with CTO and Director of Engineering on technical strategy.
Embed operational excellence with IaC, CI/CD, and security readiness.
Drive AI workflows across the team.
