Job summary

Cpl Healthcare's Cork-based client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their civil engineering and infrastructure team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on electrical estimating for major water and wastewater projects, with opportunities to develop commercial expertise on site-based installations.

Full training and ongoing support will help a candidate transition from electrical installation or estimating into a dedicated quantity surveying career within a growing contractor.

Qualifications

• Electrical estimating experience or practical on-site electrical installation with a move to office-based role.
• Solid understanding of electrical installations, regulations and industry best practices.
• Experience in water, wastewater, utilities or heavy industrial sectors is advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical installation works.
• Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and contract requirements.
• Prepare commercial pricing for electrical installations, including cabling, containment, and commissioning works.
• Obtain, evaluate, and manage supplier and subcontractor quotations to achieve the best commercial value.
• Support the preparation of tender submissions, cost analyses, and commercial evaluations.
• Identify potential project risks and contribute to value engineering opportunities.
• Maintain and develop the company's historical pricing and estimating database.

Our client is a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering major water and wastewater utility projects across Ireland. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their Cork-based team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Estimator or an electrician with strong site experience who is looking to transition into a commercial role. You will ideally have:

• Previous experience in electrical estimating, or practical on-site electrical installation experience with a desire to move into an office-based commercial role.
• A solid understanding of electrical installations, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, or heavy industrial sectors would be advantageous, although not essential.
• Strong commercial awareness with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under deadlines.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Fluent English and full legal authorisation to work in Ireland.
