Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking an Associate QA Engineer on a 12-month contract basis to join our growing Technology team in Tralee. The role focuses on quality assurance, manual and automated testing, and collaboration with developers and project teams in a fast-paced, global banking environment.

You will design test cases, manage defects, and contribute to automated testing efforts using Jira and Xray, with opportunities to learn and apply Playwright or Selenium.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
• Understanding of SDLC concepts and QA methodologies.
• Knowledge of Agile development practices and iterative delivery models.
• Experience using defect and test management tools such as Jira and Xray.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• A genuine passion for Quality Assurance and software testing.
• Desirable: exposure to test automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium or RFT.
• Basic programming knowledge in Java or Python.
• Experience within financial services or payments-related applications.
• Understanding of test automation frameworks and automated testing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute test cases for functional and non-functional requirements.
• Identify, document, track and validate defects across applications and integrated systems.
• Create and maintain test plans, test cases and test scripts using Jira and Xray.
• Support regression testing activities and ensure test coverage across application releases.
• Develop and maintain test data required for testing activities.
• Analyse test results and provide feedback to development teams.
• Assist in maintaining automated testing frameworks and automation scripts.
• Collaborate with development, business and project teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across QA processes and testing practices.
• Produce clear and concise test reporting for stakeholders and management.
• Prioritise workload effectively while working on multiple initiatives.
