Job summary

ESB is seeking a Capital Projects Project Manager to deliver building projects and lead multidisciplinary design teams. You will manage internal and external resources across varying complexity from concept to handover, with a focus on compliance and value.

Based in ESB’s Dublin head office with hybrid working and occasional travel, you will report to the Capital Projects Senior Project Manager and contribute to the Net Zero agenda while coordinating with Facilities Management and maintenance

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience delivering building, construction or capital works projects.
• Qualification in Architecture/Architectural Technology or related engineering field.
• Proven ability to independently deliver projects up to €2 million from concept to handover.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Knowledge of planning, health and safety legislation and permit-to-work systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication; full driving licence and SafePass.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a series of projects of varying complexity annually as part of the Capital Works programme for ESB.
• Assemble and manage design teams from professional and construction resources; ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Act as PSDP and advise on optimum design solutions for building projects.
• Manage stakeholders and provide regular progress reporting to Senior Capital PM Management.
• Ensure compliance with planning/building regulations and ESB policies; manage permit-to-work.
• Contribute to policies ensuring projects are safe, cost-effective and compliant.
• Collaborate with Facilities Management and ensure smooth handover to maintenance.
• Produce sketch schemes, tender docs, construction information and as-built drawings.

FM have responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of building related projects to ensure that the ESB Group can deliver its business in well maintained safe & sustainable workplaceenvironments. Within FM, the Capital Projects team is responsible for the delivery of the capital works programme across ESB through a multi-disciplinary professional team consisting of internal and external resources typically make up the delivery teams.

FM have responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of building related projects to ensure that the ESB Group can deliver its business in well maintained safe & sustainable workplaceenvironments. Within FM, the Capital Projects team is responsible for the delivery of the capital works programme across ESB through a multi-disciplinary professional team consisting of internal and external resources typically make up the delivery teams. The role of the Capital Projects Project Manager is to work as part of the Capital Projects team in the role of designer and project manager in multidisciplinary teams delivering projects to ESB group. The projects are typically construction projects on existing premises and vary from internal fitout with services upgrades to fabric (roof, windows, wall cladding, thermal) upgrades to whole building upgrades. A key factor in working with existing buildings is familiarity with building regulations and their applicability to existing circumstances. The candidate will ideally have experience as an Architect / Architectural Technologist and is interested in developing their project management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for delivering a series of projects of varying complexity annually as part of the overall Capital Works program in FM for a range of internal ESB customers, aligned to ESB Net Zero strategy
• Assemble and manage appropriate design teams, from professional and construction industry framework panels, to carry out the necessary work and provide the relevant services for projects. Manage these consultants on each project in line with ESB policies ensuring timely delivery and within budget.
• Competency to act in role as Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) on relevant projects and advise on optimum design solutions for building projects.
• Managing stakeholders and providing timely reporting on projects progress and issues to stakeholders and Senior Capital PM Management
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with the planning and building regulatory framework and legislation on projects along with ESB policies and procedures in particular managing permit to work system on all projects.
• Inputting into a series of policies and procedures in line with ESB policies and Statutory legislation, to ensure projects are executed in a safe, cost effective, time efficient, professional and compliant manner.
• Working collaboratively with Facility Management team and delivering projects to ensure a full complete handover to the maintenance phase of the project by other members of the Facilities team including the Hard and Soft Services Manager
• Producing sketch scheme proposals, tender information, construction information, as built information for projects including drawings, specifications, schedules and scope of works documents.

Experience And Qualifications

Essential

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience delivering building, construction or capital works projects relating to offices, stores, depots and protected structures.
• Relevant third-level qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience with an architectural background.
• Proven ability to independently deliver construction projects up to €2 million from concept and design through procurement, construction and handover, acting as Project Manager and/or Lead Designer with limited oversight.
• Experience managing and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams, including architectural, structural, mechanical & electrical, fire, security and telecommunications disciplines, together with proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong knowledge of legislation relating to planning, construction, health and safety, energy and conservation in buildings, including statutory Health and Safety obligations and the review of risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to plan work to deadlines, manage internal and external stakeholders, control project costs and motivate project teams. Full clean driving licence and SafePass required.

Desirable

• Experience in construction project management, permit to work systems, risk assessments/method statements, cost management, and delivery of M&E projects; IOSH Managing Safety in Construction or project management qualifications would be an advantage.

Location

This position will be based in ESB’s Head Office at Fitzwilliam 27, Dublin 2. However, travel will be required as part of the role. Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week. All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary

€49,800 - €58,600 per annum (depending on experience)
