Job summary

VHR Global Technical Recruitment is seeking an experienced Project Director - Transmission to lead major power transmission and grid infrastructure programmes across Ireland and the UK.

You will be seniorly accountable for delivery, commercial performance, health & safety, stakeholder management, and team leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Recognised Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years' project management experience within power generation, transmission, or distribution.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams across transmission infrastructure projects.
• Manage full project lifecycles from initiation through completion.
• Oversee project budgets, P&L performance, forecasting, and commercial delivery.
• Manage subcontractors and supply chain partners to achieve cost, quality, safety, and programme objectives.
• Ensure compliance with SHEQ standards, promoting a strong health and safety culture.
• Act as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
• Monitor project performance, risks, and resources to drive successful outcomes.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Project Director - Transmission to lead the successful delivery of major power transmission and grid infrastructure projects across Ireland and the UK. Reporting at a senior level, you will have full accountability for project delivery, commercial performance, health & safety, stakeholder management, and team leadership, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop multidisciplinary project teams across transmission infrastructure projects.
• Manage full project lifecycles from initiation through to completion.
• Oversee project budgets, P&L performance, forecasting, and commercial delivery.
• Manage subcontractors and supply chain partners to achieve cost, quality, safety, and programme objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Recognised Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
• Minimum 10 years' project management experience within the power generation, transmission, or distribution sector.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects and project teams.
• Strong commercial management skills with P&L responsibility and contract delivery experience.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering high-voltage transmission or grid infrastructure projects in Ireland or the UK.
• Knowledge of utility industry regulatory and safety requirements.
