Job summary

Jones Engineering is seeking a Transmission & Distribution Project Manager in Meath, Ireland. You will oversee electrical projects from pre-construction to handover, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to meet milestones, budgets, and quality standards.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Building Services or a related field, 3-5 years site-based construction experience in renewables, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Building Services, Electrical Engineering, or Renewable Energy.
• 3-5 years’ experience in site-based construction roles.
• Experience with wind, solar, 38kV/110kV/220kV, BESS, grid connections and MV testing/commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Assume accountability for financial performance and overall management of assigned projects.
• Lead, coordinate, and manage project teams, including direct labour and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with codes, regulations, and health & safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Carry out regular site inspections to verify adherence to specifications, safety procedures, and quality benchmarks.
• Manage and coordinate external consultants.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges during construction, implementing effective and timely solutions.
• Provide clear and consistent reporting to the Renewables Division Operations Manager, Contracts Manager and Director.
• Deliver electrical projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring completion on time and within budget.
• Maintain strong commercial and contractual oversight, including a solid understanding of project P&L.
• Effectively manage and develop cross-functional teams to support project success.

Job Description

As a Project Manager, with a focus on Transmission & Distribution, you will play a pivotal role in project implementation and execution. You will coordinate the project team and management of the project on a day-to-day basis to ensure key project milestones are achieved and the successful delivery of the project.

Skills and Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

• A degree in Electrical Building Services, Electrical Engineering, or Renewable Energy is essential.
• Proven experience in the construction and delivery of renewable energy projects, including wind and solar developments. This must include onsite involvement with 38kV, 110kV, and 220kV medium-voltage substations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid connections and MV testing and commissioning.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar site-based construction role is essential.
• Excellent delegation and organisational skills.
• Ability to lead and mentor a cross-functional team essential.
• Ability to work and collaborate with the wider project team essential.
• Electrical trade background would be advantageous.
• Strong communications skills, both written and oral required.
