Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment is partnering with an established enterprise software organization in Dublin South to recruit a hands-on Principal Engineer / Technical Lead. You will lead the modernization of a complex platform while spending the majority of your time coding and guiding architectural improvements.

The role emphasizes mentoring, code reviews and delivering with CI/CD, Azure cloud, API design, and AI-assisted workflows to boost engineering productivity.

Qualifications

10+ years in commercial software engineering focused on modernizing production systems.
Frontend experience with TypeScript and Angular (or similar).
Cloud/DevOps experience with Azure, API design, and Infrastructure as Code.
Daily use of AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Cline, Claude Code).

Responsibilities

Modernization: Lead the transition of legacy systems to scalable, service-based architectures.
Hands-on delivery: Write high-quality code and drive best practices (testing, modular design, CI/CD).
AI integration: Utilize and champion modern IDE tooling in daily workflows to accelerate development.
Leadership: Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming; solve complex production issues.
Strategy: Implement incremental refactoring and explore AI-assisted workflows to boost engineering productivity.
