Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join its energy team, supporting projects across the UK, Ireland, and Europe. The role offers hybrid working from our Dublin office or other offices, with opportunities to lead feasibility through to construction, delivering infrastructure for renewable energy and transmission networks.

You'll guide senior and junior staff, coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, ensure design compliance with BS EN codes and Eurocodes, and maintain strong client

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy projects.
• Experience in UK Transmission & Distribution (11kV–400kV).
• Strong technical design competency in civil/structural elements.
• Good report writing and organisational skills.
• Familiarity with NGTS or National Grid CDAE status is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on feasibility and design reports.
• Liaise with clients and manage day-to-day project work within timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead design of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, and external works.
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specifications to UK standards.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality reports and mentor junior staff.
