Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to support the continued expansion of our energy team across Renewables & Transmission and Distribution. The role will be deployed to projects across the UK, Ireland, and Europe, with a flexible hybrid working model and opportunities to grow within a global infrastructure consultancy.

You will lead diverse energy projects including onshore wind, solar, hydro, grid infrastructure, and energy storage, mentoring junior staff and collaborating

Qualifications

• BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering is required.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership with ICE or other relevant Institution.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects for the Energy Transition is highly desirable.
• Experience on UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11kV–400kV) is desirable.
• Demonstrates high technical competency in civil/structural design.
• Strong report writing and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on reports including technical feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients, manage project work day-to-day and ensure delivery within timescales and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead and manage the design of civil infrastructure including roads, drainage, civil/structural works and external areas.
• Prepare and review calculations, detailed design drawings and specifications per UK standards (BS EN, Eurocodes, CDM).
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high-quality reports (feasibility studies, inspection reports, design documents).
• Mentor and guide junior staff.

Education

BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering
