Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Practice Accountant / Senior Accountant in Kilkenny, Ireland, offering hybrid working and a clear path to Manager or Director levels. You will manage accounts preparation and statutory reporting for a regional client base including SMEs and owner-managed businesses.

You will also lead tax compliance, cloud accounting support, budgeting advice, and client advisory work, mentoring junior staff and guiding ACA/ACCA trainees.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA or equivalent).
• 2–4 years in a practice accountancy firm.
• Strong knowledge of Irish GAAP (FRS 102/102A) and Irish tax rules.

About Your New Job

• As a Practice Accountant / Senior Accountant, you will manage accounts preparation and statutory financial reporting under FRS 102 and FRS 102A for SMEs, owner-managed businesses, partnerships, and sole traders.
• You will be responsible for tax compliance, handling Corporation Tax, Income Tax, VAT, PAYE/PRSI, and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT) computations and filings.
• You will deliver business advisory services, cloud accounting support, cash flow management, and budgeting advice for your portfolio of regional clients in Kilkenny and the South-East.
• You will support or lead audit fieldwork and limited assurance reviews for non-exempt clients as required.
• You will mentor and supervise junior accountants and ACA/ACCA trainees, delegating and reviewing work to ensure quality and professional development.
• You will help clients implement cloud accounting solutions, such as Xero, Surf Accounts, and QuickBooks, ensuring digital efficiency and compliance.

What Skills You Possess

• Ideally a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with full legal eligibility to work in Ireland.
• At least 2–4 years’ experience working in a practice accountancy firm, ideally supporting a range of regional SMEs.
• Excellent technical knowledge of Irish GAAP (FRS 102/102A), Irish tax rules, and filings with the Companies Registration Office and Revenue Commissioners.
• Hands‑on experience with leading accountancy practice management software and cloud accounting solutions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client‑focused, approachable attitude.
