Job summary

Harvey Nash is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the Market Risk Technology team in Dublin. This hands-on role focuses on modernising applications, platform engineering, remediation and technology upgrades across critical enterprise systems.

You will work with Java/Spring Boot, Python, REST APIs and microservices to deliver cloud-ready architectures, enhance security, reliability and operational resilience within a large financial services environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience as Platform Engineer/ Application Engineer or Senior Software Engineer.
  • Solid Java development experience with Spring/Spring Boot and REST APIs.
  • Strong Python development experience with Flask, FastAPI or Django.
  • Experience with application modernisation and legacy upgrades.
  • Knowledge of microservices and enterprise architecture.
  • Familiarity with DB2 and SQL Server including SQL tuning.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Experience with Ansible and Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in production support and post-release validation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technology remediation initiatives including vulnerability, NPT/EOL, technology upgrades, compliance and platform improvements.
  • Lead remediation activities from initial identification through implementation, testing and final closure.
  • Work hands-on across application modernisation, integration, automation and production support improvements.
  • Develop and enhance applications using Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs and Python.
  • Contribute to modernisation of legacy applications and move platforms towards cloud-ready architectures.
  • Work with microservices, React and modern web technologies.
  • Support platform upgrades, CI/CD improvements, monitoring, logging and post-release validation.
  • Work with DB2 and SQL Server, including SQL tuning and database-related improvements.
  • Use technologies such as Linux/Unix, Ansible and Jenkins across platform engineering and delivery.

Platform Engineer - Market Risk Technology

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Contract: 12 months

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join a Market Risk Technology team within a leading global financial services organisation.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining application modernisation, platform engineering, remediation and technology upgrades. You will work across critical enterprise applications, helping improve security, technology currency, reliability and operational resilience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive technology remediation initiatives including vulnerability, NPT/EOL, technology upgrades, compliance and platform improvements.

Key Skills & Experience
  • Strong commercial experience as a Platform Engineer, Application Engineer or Senior Software Engineer.
  • Strong Java development experience, particularly Spring/Spring Boot and REST APIs.
  • Strong Python development experience with frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI or Django.
  • Experience with application modernisation, legacy technology upgrades or migration programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices and enterprise architecture.
  • Experience with DB2 and/or SQL Server, including SQL performance/tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix environments.
  • Experience with Ansible, Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, production support and post-release validation.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted software engineering/development tools is highly desirable.
