Job summary

Cunningham invites motivated Engineering placement students for a one-year site-based role across Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare, with potential international exposure. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will work with senior engineers on daily site activities during the September 2027 intake.

Travel flexibility and accommodation support are provided; opportunities to develop through hands-on tasks and professional development activities.

Qualifications

• Candidates studying Civil or Construction Engineering and related disciplines are welcome.
• Strong IT experience with MS Office and AutoCAD is expected.

Responsibilities

• Assist surveying and setting-out duties on site.
• Support site management to keep projects on time and within budget.
• Liaise with Quantity Surveyors about material orders and pricing.
• Prepare drawings, calculations, risk assessments and method statements.
• Contribute to progress reports and site investigations.

As an Engineering Placement student, you will engage in daily site activities, working alongside and reporting to senior engineers allowing you to develop your skills.

Reporting to: Site Manager

Location: This is a site-based role offering the opportunity to work on exciting projects across Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare, with potential exposure to international projects in Germany, Sweden and other EU countries.

Flexibility to travel is essential, but we'll provide the necessary accommodation and support to help you make the most of these opportunities.

Contract Type: One Year Placement

Duties will include

• Ensuring Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements are adhered to.
• Assist with surveying and setting-out duties.
• Supporting the site management team to ensure that the project can be completed on-time and in budget.
• Liaising with Quantity Surveyors about the ordering and pricing of materials.
• Preparation of drawings, calculations, risk assessments and method statements, ensuring quality control and compliance procedures are adhered to.
• Contribute to progress reports as appropriate.
• Assisting with the liaison of clients and site investigations.
• Assisting engineers, subcontractors, and other parties engaged ensuring all work is completed according to specifications.

Candidate

Qualifications & Experience

• We welcome applications from candidates studying Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, and related disciplines.
• Strong IT experience with MS Office and other relevant software such as AutoCAD.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to relay complex information in clear manner.
• Well organised, with the ability to manage workload and prioritise competing tasks.
• Possess attention to detail, and diligent with standards of work.

Additional information

• All candidates should have the legal right or a valid permit to that enables them to work in the Republic of Ireland and the UK.
• Travel to various sites and live projects across Ireland will be expected as part of normal duties for this role, therefore a full driving licence and access to own vehicle will be an advantage.
• As part of this role, you will be expected to work outdoors on live construction sites all year-round in varying weather conditions.
