Job summary

Tyndall National Institute invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Photonics devices. The role focuses on developing active photonic/electronic components and their integration in compact circuits, with emphasis on Micro-Transfer Printing (MTP) technology and access to advanced fabrication and metrology facilities.

The successful candidate will join a collaborative team, contributing to device design, fabrication, integration and characterisation, with opportunities for publication

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Communications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Significant knowledge of compound semiconductor devices and optical waveguides.

Responsibilities

• Simulation of photonic structures and devices.
• Design robust fabrication processes for compound semiconductor photonic devices.
• Mask design and layout.
• Complete high-quality device fabrication with inline testing and evaluation of steps.
• Characterising the electro-optic performance of the devices.
• Disseminate research achievements via publications and conferences.
• Mentor activities within the group.
• Education and Public Engagement activities involvement.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems and Health & Safety standards.
• Carry out any additional duties within the scope of the post.
