Job summary

Tyndall National Institute invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Researcher specializing in Optical Design and Advanced Packaging. The role centers on designing, modelling, simulating, and validating optical devices and packaging technologies within EU and industry-funded projects.

Collaboration across researchers, engineers, and industry partners will drive demonstrators and scalable packaging solutions.

Qualifications

PhD in Photonics, Optical Engineering, Physics or related field.
Experience designing and simulating optical/photonic devices, components or systems.
Experience using commercial or research software for optical, electromagnetic or multiphysics simulation.
Experience in experimental research with lab validation of concepts.
Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering or research projects.
Strong communication and technical report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

Design, model, and simulate optical devices, components, and systems for advanced packaging applications.
Develop and validate new optical design methodologies and optimise packaging processes via experiments.
Collaborate with packaging researchers to translate design concepts into prototypes and demonstrators.
Contribute to development, characterization, and optimisation of packaging technologies in the lab.
Contribute to research projects funded by academia and industry.
Prepare technical reports, publications, and project presentations.
