Job summary

Enable Ireland in Wicklow is seeking a highly-motivated Person in Charge to lead respite services for children and adults based in Co. Wicklow.

The post will oversee staffing, budgets and delivery of the highest standards of care and residential support. The successful candidate will ensure HIQA compliance and implementation of Enable Ireland policies, with governance duties and quality assurance across services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies/Social Care or Nursing or equivalent; evidence of professional registration.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in a similar setting.
• Minimum 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
• Experience working with adults with disability and challenging behaviour, with HIQA knowledge.

• Manage respite services for children and adults in Co. Wicklow, including staffing and budgets.
• Ensure HIQA compliance and implement Enable Ireland policies and procedures.

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Person in Charge to join our team in Dublin and South East. We have a full time opportunity within our team in Arklow, Co. Wicklow.

Contract Type: Specified Purpose.

Contract Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week.

Salary Scale: €55,430 - €68,228pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI’s (Long Service Increments)

This pay scale is subject to increases in 2026 in accordance with the recent WRC agreement towards enhanced pay adjustments in Section 39 organisations.

Annual Leave Entitlement: 33 days per annum.

Overview of the Post:

The Person in Charge (PIC) will be responsible for the overall management of Enable Ireland Respite Services for children and adults based in Co. Wicklow. This includes responsibility for the management of staffing, budgets, and the provision of the highest standards of respite and residential care to our Service Owners.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring compliance with HIQA standards and the implementation of Enable Ireland policies and procedures supporting best practice and care in disability services.

The successful candidate will have:

• Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies/Social Care or Nursing or equivalent.
• Evidence of professional registration.
• Must be eligible to work in the state.
• Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a similar work environment.
• Minimum of 3 years working at a senior level, or in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience working with adults with disability, including supporting service users who present with challenging behaviour.
• Excellent working knowledge of HIQA and their requirements.

• Eligible to work in the State.
• Previous experience working as a Person in Charge.
