We are looking for an experienced Electrical Permit to Work (PTW) Engineer to join our project team in Frankfurt, Germany. Part of the Dussmann Group of companies based in Berlin, STS Group is fully committed to the highest Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality practices.
The Opportunity
This role will work closely with the wider project leadership team, safety department, and commissioning engineers to ensure safe systems of work are maintained across all electrical and energisation scope. Key to this role will be the ability to effectively plan, control, and audit high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) electrical permits, isolation procedures, and safe isolation matrices.
Reporting to the Project Manager, here are some of the key duties of this role:
- Manage, administer, and issue all Electrical Permits to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Sanction for Test documents across the data centre build.
- Review risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and switching schedules prior to issuing electrical permits.
- Perform site walks and physical inspections to verify safe electrical isolations and ensure compliance with isolation boundaries before work commences.
- Maintain the master PTW log and ensure live tracking of active, suspended, and closed-out electrical permits.
- Support the commissioning team during safe energisation phases, ensuring strict adherence to lockout and tagout procedures.
- Deliver permit-to-work inductions and electrical safety toolbox talks to site contractors and subcontractors.
- Liaise with subcontractors, safe systems coordinators, and client operations teams on daily electrical work activities and access control.
- Attend daily work coordination, safety, and permit review meetings with project leadership.
- Perform internal electrical safe system audits to verify compliance with local regulations and STS Group standards.
Key Qualifications Required
- Electrical / MEP craft qualification or Electrical Engineering degree with extensive hands-on Permit to Work (PTW) and safe systems of work experience.
- Formal High Voltage (HV) / Low Voltage (LV) Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certification or recognised electrical safety qualifications.
- Evidence of previous experience controlling electrical PTW / LOTO systems on large-scale Data Centre or major industrial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of EU/German electrical safety legislation and safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail, communication, and organisational/planning skills.
- Ability to self-manage, prioritise high-risk activities, and work calmly under tight project schedules.
