Job summary

Galway Bay Hotel is seeking an enthusiastic Pastry Chef to join our on-site kitchen team in Galway, Ireland. The role involves producing pastries and desserts, understanding daily business needs and specials, and contributing to menu planning.

The ideal candidate will have pastry experience, a genuine interest in pastry, and a relevant qualification is desirable. The position offers competitive pay and opportunities for training in a supportive, diverse team environment.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the production of pastries and desserts in accordance with menu requirements.
• Be familiar with the day’s business and specials.
• Participate in menu planning.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely fashion and meet presentation standards.
• Observe proper portion control and minimize wastage.
• Maintain high food hygiene and HACCP compliance across kitchen and outlets.
• Report maintenance issues to supervisor and ensure equipment works properly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the production of pastries and desserts in accordance menu requirements.
• Be knowledgeable of the day’s business.
• Be familiar with the menu and with any “specials” of the day.
• Participate in menu planning.
• Ensure all dishes are prepared in a timely fashion.
• Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen are prepared to the approved standard of presentation.
• Avoid unnecessary wastage, to observe proper portion planning and control and to act in a cost-effective, responsible manner.
• Ensure excellent food hygiene practice is observed in the entire food chain from storage through to preparation and service.
• Ensure HACCP compliance within the kitchen and all Food & Beverage outlets.
• Ensure the kitchen equipment is in working order; report any maintenance issues to your supervisor.
