Operations Manager – Advanced Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a high- performing production organisation within a technically complex, 24/7 advanced manufacturing environment.
This is a key leadership position with responsibility for safety, people, production, quality, cost and delivery, alongside the development of long term manufacturing capability.
The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary operational team and work across Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Quality, R&D, Customer Service and Sales to deliver production performance and continuous improvement.
The role operates within a matrix organisation, working closely with both site leadership and the wider CVD/HPHT operations network to align capacity, technical standards, operational performance and strategic investment.
Responsibilities
- Lead a 24/7 manufacturing operation, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient delivery against agreed SQDCP targets
- Own departmental production, quality, cost and delivery KPIs, identifying and resolving performance constraints
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Own the department’s operating budget and investment requirements, balancing short term production requirements with long-term capability development
- Develop capacity and production plans in partnership with Supply Chain, Sales Engineering and other CVD / HPHT sites
- Drive structured problem solving and continuous improvement using appropriate Lean / Business Excellence methodologies
- Lead operational change, including process, equipment, organisational and capability improvements.
- Ensure effective interfaces with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D and Customer Service
- Build capability through recruitment, succession planning, coaching and development of the operational team
- Represent Operations in site-level strategic, investment and capability discussions.
Requirements
- Significant manufacturing leadership experience, including experience leading teams in a complex production environment. Typically, this would include 10+ years’ manufacturing experience and 5+ years in people / functional leadership role
- Degree in Engineering, Business or equivalent.
- Proven track record as a leader who has delivered results.
- Role will involve travel on occasion.
- Literate in use of MS Office and systems.
- Project management skills and good technical understanding.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment and make decisions under pressure.
- Ability to lead change.
- Ability to stay focused on the problem being solved and consider the impact of individual decisions across the organisation.
