Job summary

Harmonics Recruitment's client in Shannon, Ireland, a precision engineering and manufacturing organisation, seeks an experienced Technical Manager to lead manufacturing engineering across machining and precision operations. You will drive process optimisation, support new product introductions, and standardise manufacturing processes while leading a cross-functional team.

A strong Lean/CI background, 7+ years' engineering leadership, and a proactive safety culture are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related.
• Minimum 7 years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in precision machining, metal processing, or advanced manufacturing operations.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Experience leading engineering projects and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing engineering activities across machining and precision engineering operations.

Our client, an established precision engineering and manufacturing organisation based in Shannon, is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join their team

General Management

• Lead manufacturing engineering activities across machining and precision engineering operations.
• Drive process optimisation and efficiency improvements throughout production operations.
• Provide technical support for new product introductions and process transfers.
• Develop, standardise, and improve manufacturing processes and engineering procedures.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities relating to process, equipment, and product performance.
• Support tooling, fixture, equipment, and process validation activities.

• Work closely with Quality and Production teams to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Technical Leadership

• Act as the senior technical authority for engineering matters across the Shannon facility.
• Lead complex technical investigations and problem-solving activities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering solutions to support business competitiveness.
• Provide guidance and technical support on customer and supplier engineering requirements.
• Support risk assessment activities and implementation of engineering controls.
• Lead engineering change management activities where required.
• Support risk assessment activities and implementation of engineering controls.
• Ensure all engineering, maintenance and facilities activities are conducted in a safe manner and in compliance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) legislation, company policies and site procedures, promoting a proactive culture of safety across the organisation.

Maintenance & Facilities Engineering Support

• Provide technical support and oversight for critical plant infrastructure and facility systems.
• Support reliability improvement initiatives for manufacturing equipment and utility systems.
• Provide engineering guidance in relation to:
  • Medium Voltage (MV) electrical substation infrastructure.
  • Oxygen generation and distribution systems.
  • Compressed air, HVAC, and process utility systems.
  • Building and facility engineering projects.
• Interface with external contractors, engineering consultants, and service providers as required.
• Support the planning and execution of facility upgrade and expansion projects.
• Assist in developing preventive maintenance and asset management strategies for critical infrastructure.

Knowledge & Experience

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or a related
• Minimum 7 years' engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in precision machining, metal processing, or advanced manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrated success in leading engineering projects and delivering measurable operational improvements.
• Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement methodologies, and structured problem-solving techniques.
• Experience leading technical teams and managing cross-functional projects.
• Experience supporting maintenance and facilities engineering functions is desirable.
• Knowledge of medium-voltage electrical systems, manufacturing utilities, HVAC, compressed air systems, or oxygen generation systems would be advantageous.
• Proficiency in engineering analysis, project management, and continuous improvement tools.
