Job summary

KD Group, a leading Irish engineering contractor, seeks a Health and Safety Manager for its Castlebar, Co. Mayo operations. This fully on-site role focuses on risk management, safety compliance, and promoting a strong HSEQ culture across nationwide sites, including public lighting and civil works.

You will oversee RAMS, PSDP/PSCS duties, and lead safety training, audits and inductions, ensuring ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 conformance throughout the organisation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in occupational health and safety (NFQ 7/8).
• Several years’ health and safety experience.
• Knowledge of Irish safety legislation and risk assessment.
• Experience preparing Safety Statements and conducting audits/investigations.
• Training in incident reporting, emergency planning and safety management systems.
• Industry-specific competence in construction, healthcare, manufacturing, chemicals or logistics.
• Strong communication, training, leadership and record-management skills.
• IOSH Chartered membership is valuable for senior positions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational risk management.
• Develop and maintain safety assessments and statements.
• Update policies, procedures and safety registers.
• Create and review RAMS (risk assessments and method statements).
• Fulfill PSDP and PSCS duties.
• Provide expert HSEQ advice to management and staff.
• Lead internal health and safety training and audits.
• Coach onsite staff and sub-contractors on compliance.
