Job summary

Design Build Search seeks a Safety Manager for Down, overseeing health, safety, environment and wellbeing across projects in Ireland and Europe. You will manage EHS systems, ensure ISO compliance, mentor EHS staff and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

The role reports to the Operations Director and requires monthly travel to Dublin sites and occasional Europe travel, with a focus on proactive safety and contractor compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (NFQ Level 7+).
• 5–8 years’ senior EHS experience within construction ideally electrical & mechanical.
• Experience managing ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001 systems.
• Strong communication, influencing and leadership skills.
• Excellent problem‑solving and attention to detail.
• Confident trainer with reporting, analysis and IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote a strong EHS culture across all sites and drive continuous improvement of EHS systems.
• Oversee PSDP/PSCS requirements, contractor compliance and pre‑qualification.
• Conduct site visits, audits, inspections and incident investigations.
• Manage risk assessments, the company risk register and action tracking processes.
• Prepare monthly EHS performance reports and analyse project KPIs.
• Deliver mandatory safety training and provide technical guidance to teams.
