Job summary

EirGrid is seeking an Offshore HV Systems Specialist to provide technical leadership and engineering assurance for offshore transmission assets and onshore connections.

You will drive lifecycle management, governance, operational readiness and long-term performance across offshore HV substations, cables, onshore compounds and related systems, acting as SME to influence design, testing, commissioning and handover.

Qualifications

• Significant offshore transmission infrastructure experience is required.
• Experience with offshore HV transmission design and conformity assessment to standards.
• Experience supporting FAT, SAT, commissioning, energisation, and operational acceptance of HV assets.
• Understanding of asset management, reliability, lifecycle management, and operational readiness.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to convey complex tech to non-technical audiences and senior leaders.
• Ability to coach and develop high-performance teams in a dynamic environment.
• Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
• Experience in offshore transmission asset owner, utility, developer, or operator contexts.
• Experience supporting asset handover from project delivery to operations.
• Knowledge of offshore maintenance strategies, RCMA, and condition monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and engineering assurance for offshore transmission infrastructure and onshore connections.
• Support lifecycle management, governance, operational readiness, and long-term performance of assets.
• Ensure offshore HV substations, offshore platforms, HV/MV cables, and onshore compounds meet standards and are designed, tested, commissioned, accepted, and maintained per asset policies.
• Act as SME for asset classes and influence critical engineering decisions across a complex offshore portfolio.
• Collaborate with Offshore PMO and Offshore Asset Readiness Programme to ensure governance, regulatory alignment, and delivery assurance.
