Job summary

Principle HR in Cork is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to design, upgrade and support enterprise switching, routing and wireless across data centre and campus environments.

You'll automate provisioning and troubleshooting with Python, Ansible and REST APIs, tackle root causes, and drive AI-assisted tooling to reduce manual work. Hybrid role with on-site presence three days per week.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in enterprise networking with CCNP level.
• Hands-on experience with VLANs, STP, MC-LAG, VRRP, OSPF and BGP.
• Automation you have built, not just run.
• Experience with Cisco, Arista, Juniper or Dell kit.

Job description

Most network roles ask you to keep the lights on. This one asks you to automate the lights.

A global tech leader in Cork needs a hands-on network engineer who's as comfortable in a switch config as in a Python script. You'll run and upgrade enterprise switching, routing and wireless across data centre and campus environments. You'll also help build the automation, including AI-driven tooling, that takes the manual work out of it.

The work

• Design, upgrade and support L2/L3 networks and wireless infrastructure
• Automate provisioning, config and troubleshooting with Python, Ansible and REST APIs
• Get to the root cause of complex issues, not just the quick fix

You’ll have

• 5+ years in enterprise networking, at CCNP level
• Strong hands-on experience with VLANs, STP, MC-LAG, VRRP, OSPF and BGP
• Automation you've actually built, not just run
• Experience with Cisco, Arista, Juniper or Dell kit

Bonus points if you've used LLMs or multi-agent workflows to build or test automation.

The Offer:

€140,000 per annum pro rata, depending on experience. It's a 6-month contract, PAYE, hybrid, with 3 days a week on-site in Cork, paid weekly as PAYE through Principle HR.
