RTÉ is Ireland's national public-service media organisation. We are embarking upon an ambitious and exciting 5-year transformation strategy to update the way we run the organisation. Our mission is to serve as an independent source of stories, news, information and entertainment for Ireland, reflecting the diversity of its people and providing experiences that enrich the lives of all.

This sense of purpose motivates us to deliver to the highest standards in an environment that is collaborative, supportive and engaging. Attracting and retaining the best talent is key in delivering to our audiences. We want our people to thrive in an environment that values their output.

Meet the team

Media Management supports live and scheduled output across RTÉ, working closely with editorial, production, technology and operational teams to ensure media is available and ready for use when required. The team also plays an important media governance role across RTÉ's content management systems, helping to manage and maintain content throughout the media supply chain and supporting the standards, workflows and processes that underpin reliable broadcast operations. RTÉ is establishing a panel of Media Operators to provide flexible operational support across Media Management.

About the role
  • Working across RTÉ’s media supply chain to administer, import, QC, transform and maintain media across relevant production and content management systems.
  • Providing media governance across content management and storage systems, including content delivery onboarding and management of content lifecycle and purge activities in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Supporting production, live studio and fast‑turnaround programming across RTÉ output through a variety of media operations tasks including ingest, edit, playback, clipping, compilation or chase‑play related activity.
  • Supporting broadcast and live media ingest workflows, including administrative tasks, circuit bookings and the scheduling, recording and monitoring of incoming feeds, files and media in line with stakeholder requirements and agreed procedures.
  • Monitoring media workflows, schedules and operational tasks to ensure content is available within agreed timelines. Liaising with editorial, production, technical and operational teams to support the timely availability and movement of media for live programmes, scheduled output and changing production requirements.
  • Building and maintaining productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across RTÉ, providing a professional, responsive and high‑quality service to internal and external clients.
  • Identifying, reporting and helping to resolve operational or workflow issues, escalating where appropriate and contributing to a stable, reliable and resilient media operation.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and automate workflows, supporting greater efficiency, scale and operational effectiveness. Contributing to workflow improvements and supporting the adoption of new tools, automation and emerging technologies across RTÉ’s evolving media supply chain.
  • Developing and sharing knowledge across the systems, workflows and technologies supported by Media Management.
About You
  • Experienced media professional with a proven track record of working in Media Operations.
  • Strong operational and technical expertise and a thorough understanding of media systems, broadcasting operations, formats and standards.
  • Proven experience in live studio production and content management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work flexibly and effectively across multiple teams.
  • The ability to anticipate potential issues, make sound decisions under pressure and implement effective solutions in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve operational issues and risks..
  • Strong digital literacy and a willingness to embrace new ways of working, workflows, technologies and systems in an evolving media landscape.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, actively seeking opportunities to take ownership, enhance workflows, improve efficiencies and contribute innovative solutions.
Nice to have
  • Experience managing content management systems, experience in post‑production and content delivery workflows and experience working in live environments, particularly News and Sport, using applications such as Avid and EVS and transcode and technical QC technologies would be an advantage.

Working in the Media Management department may require flexible working, outside of core hours, to facilitate live production, operational obligations, or late‑night programming.

The panel will be formed for a period of one year as a support to the Media Management team, in particular covering planned and unplanned absences. It may also be used to fill future vacancies that may arise.

Applicants who are successful in achieving a place on the Panel may be contracted on a casual irregular contract basis* and paid at an appropriate rate on the VTR (A) salary scale between €22.58 and €27.55 gross per hour.
