Job summary

Design Build Search is seeking a Junior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor/Estimator for a Mayo-based role. You will manage tendering tasks, take-offs for piping and ventilation, and review supplier quotations while supporting estimation activities across mechanical projects.

You will work in a contracting/M&E environment, with structured career progression and opportunities to engage with site visits and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Degree at Level 7/8 in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• 2 years QS experience.
• Good aptitude for learning.
• Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
• Experience in contracting/M&E projects is an advantage but not essential.
• Proficient with MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specification documents for tenders.
• Take-off measurement of piping & ventilation ductwork for tendering.
• Review plant quotations from suppliers.
• Enter take-offs and plant into estimation system.
• Compile and issue tender supporting documents.
• Liaise with external estimators as required.
• Investigate value engineering where applicable.
• Attend site visits and client meetings as required.
• Maintain WIP list of current tenders.
• Set-up files and put on server.
• Output drawings and documents for tenders.
• Send out tender documents to external estimators.
• Fill and send forms of tenders.
• Filing of soft copy/hard copy of tenders.
• Update estimation system pricing as notified by suppliers.

Design Build Search is working closely with a leading Mechanical Contractor in the Mayo. Due to successfully securing new projects throughout the West, they have an opening for a Junior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor/Estimator. Within this position you will look after schedule, valuations variations and financial reports. This position offers structured career progression.

Scope of Projects:

commercial, industrial, hotel and healthcare,

Minimum:

• Level 7/Level 8 degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering Discipline
• 2 years QS experience
• Good aptitude for learning.
• Ability to work on own initiative or part of a team.
• Previous experience in a contracting environment/M&E Projects advantage but not essential
• Be proficient in MS Office applications – Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint

Duties and tasks include, but are not limited to Primary

• Reviewing Drawings and Specification documents of projects to be tendered
• Drawing Take-off measurement (piping & ventilation ductwork) of projects for tendering
• Review of plant quotations from suppliers
• Entering take-offs and plant on Estimation system
• Compiling and issuing of Tender Supporting documents
• Liaising with external estimators as required
