Job summary

Arcon Recruitment Services is seeking a Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction firm in County Mayo. This opportunity is ideally suited for recent graduates or candidates with up to 12 months’ experience looking to build a career in estimating and quantity surveying.

Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

Location: County Mayo

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction and engineering business in County Mayo.

This role is ideally suited to a recent graduate or someone with up to 12 months’ experience who is looking to develop a long-term career in estimating, quantity surveying, and project costing within the construction sector.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and estimating teams on a variety of commercial, industrial, and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating Duties

• Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
• Complete quantity take-offs and measurements from construction drawings
• Obtain and review quotations from suppliers and subcontractors
• Input quantities and pricing into estimating software systems
• Assist in the preparation and submission of tender documents
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and external consultants as required
• Assist in identifying value engineering opportunities
• Attend site visits and project meetings when required

Additional Responsibilities

• Maintain tender and work-in-progress schedules
• Prepare project documentation and tender files
• Issue quotation requests and supplier enquiries
• Compile supporting information for tender submissions
• Assist with document control and filing systems
• Update pricing databases and estimating systems
• Support the commercial team with project administration duties

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
• Previous estimating, quantity surveying, or construction experience would be advantageous
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail
• Full driving licence desirable
