Arcadis are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer for a GMP-regulated manufacturing assignment located in Little Island, Cork. This is initially a 12-month contract. Flexible regarding working hours.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver small to medium-scale mechanical capital projects, managing scope, budget, forecast, schedule, and progress reporting.
- Provide site construction support, including coordination and supervision of mechanical contractors during installation, commissioning, and handover.
- Prepare mechanical work scopes for tendering/procurement and support contractor selection processes.
- Contribute to mechanical design activities within a multidisciplinary project team, including design reviews and review of technical submittals.
- Monitor and report project risks, issues, and status to the Capital Projects Manager, while managing multiple projects of varying complexity.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards, including RAMS review, safety plans, audits, and adherence to engineering standards.
- Support cost estimating, budgeting, cost control, and project tracker updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide process engineering and equipment support, ensuring plant/equipment design is fit for purpose, compliant with safety/GMP requirements, and optimized for lifecycle cost.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience) with minimum 5 years’ relevant industry experience, ideally in site-based capital projects.
- Proven experience in project management, construction supervision, commissioning, and handover within mechanical engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety compliance, contractor management, and quality/validation requirements in regulated industrial environments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and ideally SAP, with familiarity in tendering and procurement processes.
- Strong communication, leadership, planning, problem-solving, and multitasking skills, with the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
