Job summary

Veolia in Osberstown, Co. Kildare, is seeking a permanent O&M Technician - Mechanical to maintain and optimise wastewater plant operations. The role requires a trade-qualified mechanical fitter with knowledge of water treatment and welding experience, plus flexibility to respond outside normal hours.

You will work with the Plant Manager and team, ensuring health, safety, quality and environmental standards are met. Onsite hours are 08:00–16:30 with a 30-minute lunch.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified mechanical fitter.
• Knowledge of the water treatment industry with >2 years’ experience in water/wastewater treatment plants is an advantage.
• Experience with welding is an advantage.
• This position requires flexibility to provide/organise immediate assistance outside the normal working week.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work in a team and/or on own initiative.
• Strong technical capability with attention to detail.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Routine monitoring of plant, equipment and process operation to ensure optimum performance.
• Maintenance, calibration and testing of plant equipment and alarms.
• Carrying out planned M&E and operational maintenance with CMMS records.
• Liaison with sub-contractors to ensure timely, safe completion of tasks.
• Respond to plant/equipment failures and coordinate repairs or replacements.
• Identify and manage spares to ensure plant reliability.
• Control permits to work, LOTO and confined space procedures.
• Plan and coordinate shutdowns with management.
