Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement solutions for customers.
  • Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders, providing technical guidance in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing, quality and customer-facing services.
  • Develop design, cost and lead-time estimates to meet customer specifications.
  • Review technical specifications, configurations and designs for sales inquiries; prepare detailed product assemblies and manufacturing drawings.

Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Limerick Safety Systems

Reports To: Engineering Manager

The Role
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement solutions for our customers
  • Co-ordination and liaison with internal and external stakeholders, in a multi-disciplinary environment, providing technical guidance.
  • Support a team environment
  • Responsible for the provision of technical support for, Manufacturing, Quality and Customer facing services
  • Development of design, cost & lead time estimation of new product to meet customer specifications.
  • Provide technical information & assistance to sales staff. To include knowledge of relevant standards, product design details & production processes.
  • Carry out technical analysis & testing of new or modified designs for approval.
  • Review & respond to incoming sales enquiries for new or modified designs. Review of technical specification, application, configuration & design.
  • Work with the engineering team in providing detail design of product assemblies, to include sales approval, manufacturing drawings & specifications.
  • Assist the extended engineering teams in developing & implementing new techniques, procedures & processes to improve site productivity & efficiency.
  • Liaise with the site operations team & external third-party approval bodies to maintain and develop product certifications.
  • Interface with external vendors as well as personnel within cross functional layers of the organisation.
  • Execute various improvement & product related projects & tasks as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
Requirements:
  • 4+ Years’ experience in a manufacturing / engineering environment.
  • Hons. Degree in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • High level of computer literacy essential.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D or equivalent advantages.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks or equivalent) essential.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, dimensioning & drawing layout essential.
  • Strong planning & organizational skills essential.
  • Excellent communication, credibility & presentation skills essential.
  • Hands on mechanical aptitude & experience essential.
  • Strong analytical mechanical design skills & creativity in providing competitive customer design solutions essential.
  • Strong technical leadership skills with an ability to influence others.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic & driven individual with ability to work on own initiative.
  • Demonstrated team dynamics with ability to work as part of a high performing team.
