Job summary

BS&B Safety Systems in Ireland is seeking an experienced engineer to provide technical support across Sales, Manufacturing and Quality, reviewing enquiries, designs and specifications to ensure compliant solutions.

You will work with the engineering team on detail design, perform analysis and testing, and help transfer new products from R&D to manufacturing while mentoring others and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience in a similar manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Hons. Degree in Mechanical / Design / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• High level of computer literacy essential.
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with GD&T, dimensioning and drawing layout.
• Experience in metals, metal processing and heat treatment advantageous.
• Exposure to DOE, FEA and MS Project advantageous.
• Strong analytical and creative design capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Review & respond to incoming sales enquiries for new or modified designs.
• Conceptual design, cost & lead time estimation of new product solutions to meet customer specifications.
• Provide technical information & assistance to sales staff, including standards knowledge, product design details & production processes.
• Work with engineering on detail design of product assemblies, including sales approval, manufacturing drawings & specifications.
• Carry out technical analysis & testing of new or modified designs for approval.
• Provide technical support to production & quality departments & assist transfer of new products from R&D to manufacturing.
• Assist extended engineering teams in developing & implementing new techniques, procedures & processes to improve productivity.
• Liaise with Operations and external approval bodies to maintain product certifications.
• Carry out customer & supplier visits to provide engineering support & services.

Job description

The Role:

Responsible for the provision of satisfactory technical support for Sales, Manufacturing & Quality.

• Review & respond to incoming sales enquiries for new or modified designs. Review of technical specification, application, configuration & design.


• Conceptual design, cost & lead time estimation of new product solutions to meet customer specifications.


• Provide technical information & assistance to sales staff. To include knowledge of relevant standards, product design details & production processes.


• Work with the engineering team in providing detail design of product assemblies, to include sales approval, manufacturing drawings & specifications.


• Carry out technical analysis & testing of new or modified designs for approval.


• Provide technical support to production & quality departments & help support the transfer of new products from R&D to manufacturing.


• Assist the extended engineering teams in developing & implementing new techniques, procedures & processes to improve departmental productivity & efficiency.


• Liaise with the site Operations team & external third-party approval bodies to maintain product ‘type’ certifications.


• Carry out customer & supplier visits to provide engineering support & service as required.


• Execute various customer related projects, improvement projects & product related tasks.


• Coordination and ownership of Engineering Contractor projects.


• Cost analysis, project costings, costs v actual etc.


• Contribute to the harmonization of processes across business units & affiliates.


• Plant Projects as required by business demands;


• Process mapping, efficiency studies


• Preparation of periodic status reports for management.


• Monitoring and reporting on project cost and resource consumption.


• Participation in the global Engineering & Operations Committees.


• Provide technical support to Engineering, Operations and QA departments as required.


• Any other tasks as assigned by Engineering Manager.

Essential Requirements:

• 8+ Years’ experience in a similar manufacturing / engineering environment.


• Hons. Degree in Mechanical / Design / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

• Proficient in AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks or equivalent) essential.
