Job summary

Flex is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Dundalk, Ireland. The role spans multiple mechanical and electrical disciplines with structured mentoring and exposure to product life cycles.

You will design switchboards and related equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and occasionally visiting client sites. The successful candidate will have a mechanical design background, be proficient in Autodesk Inventor & Vault, and hold a Mechanical Engineering degree.

Qualifications

• 3rd level degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in a mechanical design role in a commercial environment.
• Proficient with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor & Vault).
• Sheet metal design experience is a plus.
• Able to read schematics.
• Fluent English and eligible to work in Ireland (EU).
• Strong numeracy, literacy and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines or work independently.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D mechanical designs of switchboards & related products for production/fabrication.
• Ensure shop floor drawings are controlled, accurate and easy to follow.
• Assist Production/Test in resolving design issues.
• Support Shop Floor, Site operations and Client Witness Testing as needed.
• Report to Head of Engineering.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Mechanical Design Manager on standard drawings library.
• Occasionally travel to client sites for surveys.
