Job summary

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new company named SpinCo. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Dundalk, Ireland to design switchgear and power distribution products, collaborating with multiple disciplines.

Applicants should hold a third level degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with experience in switchgear. Proficiency in MS Office and a methodical approach to problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

• Have a third level qualification in Electrical Engineering or come from a related technical background.
• Relevant experience in a switchgear production environment (electrical) will be considered in lieu of a third level qualification.
• Have a solid understanding of electricity fundamentals and electrical circuit design.
• Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
• Have a methodical approach to problem solving.
• Understanding of electrical engineering drawings such as single line diagrams and schematics is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out the electrical design of switchgear and other critical power distribution products.
• Create general arrangements and electrical schematics using AutoCAD and AutoCAD electrical.
• Generate accurate bills of materials for purchasing along with other supporting documentation.
• Maintain accurate & up to date records of designs and documentation.
• Participate in providing technical support to internal and external customers.

Job Summary

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end‑to‑end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission‑critical applications. To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Electrical Design Engineer located in Dundalk, Ireland. This role will provide excellent experience in the design and development of electrical switchgear and associated products. We are looking for a graduate level design engineer with an eye for detail who can work independently and as part of a team. Good interpersonal and communication skills are a must, as the successful candidate will work with multiple disciplines during products lifecycle.

What a typical day looks like:

• Under the direction and mentorship of senior members of the design team, carry out the electrical design of switchgear and other critical power distribution products.
• Create general arrangements and electrical schematics using AutoCAD and AutoCAD electrical.
• Generate accurate bills of materials for purchasing along with other supporting documentation such as work instructions.
• Maintain accurate & up to date records of designs and documentation.
• Participate in providing technical support to internal and external customers, attending meetings where necessary.
• Work actively within the engineering team to help foster a positive and supportive working environment.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Have a third level qualification in Electrical Engineering or come from a related technical background.
